About Freehab.

Freehab is a social enterprise.

We provide a free to access musculoskeletal service.

Patients can self-refer or be signposted to Freehab. They book an appointment online and receive a one hour consultation with an MSK clinician. This is supported by a personalised rehabilitation programme and two follow up consultations.

Our aim is for patients to either be recovered, or effectively self managing by the end of the second follow up.

We know Primary and Secondary Care are facing huge demand. We’re also aware that many patients cannot afford to pay for private care. Freehab aims to provide a solution to both of these problems that is beneficial to both patients and GPs.

Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Mission: Provide free to access online advice, support and rehabilitation for peoples injuries, aches and pains - removing the financial barriers to accessing care.

Vision: Enable everybody to invest in their health so they can lead an active and healthy life, without limits.

    Values: Equity. Quality. Activity.

  • Freehab™ is a social enterprise. A social enterprise or social business is defined as a business that has specific social or community objectives as it’s purpose. Instead of aiming to generate profits for shareholders, social enterprises reinvest the majority of their profits back into the business and community in order to develop and fulfil their purpose.

  • Freehab is funded through voluntary contributions from patients that have used the service. People are not obliged to pay, nor do we means test or ask for any information about peoples financial situation.

We may also receive funding through corporate partnerships, Government funding and Grants.

  • We are happy to accept referrals for any patient presenting with an MSK complaint. Freehab would be suitable for any patient that you would normally refer to your secondary care MSK service, and those who may not meet your threshold for a referral but would still benefit from support.

When recommending a patient seeks care in the independent sector, we offer a solution to those who do not have the financial means to access traditional private care.

We can also offer timely access which is ideal for patients with acute presentations that would benefit from access to advice in the early stages of their injury.

  • Patients should be directed to www.freehab.co.uk where they can book online to secure their appointment. They can also read about our service and get in touch with any questions prior to booking.

  • Any MSK clinician working in our service holds the relevant professional registration and insurance to practice. In line with the GMC Delegation and Referral guidance, this will be either a Statutory register or a PSA Accredited Register.

In circumstances where we have partnered with a University to provide clinical placements, students will have appropriate supervision from a qualified and registered clinician, as above.

  • We provide a letter for the patient record, outlining the clinical presentation and care received. We do this for every patient to ensure continuity of care as they move between our service, Primary Care, and other Secondary Care services.
